Future Skills has been a client for over 10 years and in 2023 they decided to reassess their place in the tertiary education market as they added new markets and programmes. Was it time for a new brand to better represent who they were becoming? We worked with Peter Roband to redefine their brand position and story, involving in-depth interviews with colleagues, learners, and stakeholders and discovered that the name Future Skills was still the strongest signifier of who they are and what they do. We removed the word Academy as it limited them in some markets. Marx Design then reimagined the logo, icon and style to present a simple, clean, editorial style. The icon represents the sun (new days and new beginnings) as well as an open book when animated. We then had all of the elements for myself and the marketing team to apply across all of the channels and collateral during 2024.
Taking people on a journey and supporting them is key. In this rebranding project I wanted to make sure all of the touch points were captured, strongly branded and contained support for users to move easily from point to point (converting interest, into applications, into enrolments).

1. Instagram post promoting software development programmmes 2. Go to website to select programme (desktop or mobile) 3. Application support and contact options. 4. Nurture emails begin to support the enrolment process. 5. Enrolled, and connected to a personalised student hub.
Future Skills have amazing online assets, from the external website to staff and student hubs and online learning and support tools. All of these needed to be updated with the new brand. The organisation was also growing to incorporate other sub brands like Ashton Warner Nanny Academy and partners like Otago Polytechnic Auckland International Campus. The brand needed to include a way to communicate this and provide space for more sub brands and partnerships in the future. And the future is looking bright.
